Martin Odegaard was Arsenal’s #1 transfer target for the upcoming season, but a report from The Athletic, states that sources close to the player have suggested that the 22-year-old is going to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for the 2021-22 season.

With no European football next season, it was always going to be tough for Arsenal to convince a player of Odegaard’s caliber. Zidane’s departure and the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the new manager have breathed new life into Odegaard’s Real Madrid career. There is now a true possibility of the Norwegian playing a prominent role for the Spanish capital club next season. Odegaard fits Ancelotti’s view of the game and there is a push from within the club hierarchy to give youth a bigger role in the team.

Through every loan spell, Odegaard has always affirmed that his dream is to one day succeed with Real Madrid. At 22-years-old and with the club struggling to sign super-stars due to the financial constraints of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Norwegian may now have his best chance to break into the Real Madrid first team once and for all. It is a feeling of “now or never” for Odegaard and his Real Madrid dream.
