Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is reluctant about signing a contract extension with the club and could be on his way out of Madrid this summer, given that Los Blancos don’t want to lose him as a free agent in just a year. In that context, several clubs appear to be interested in signing the defender, with Paris Saint-Germain now having inquired about his availability, according to a report from MARCA.
Madrid are expecting to sell Varane for around €70 million if he keeps rejecting their offers to extend his contract. Although PSG seem to have a solid defensive line with Marquinhos and Kimpembe, coach Mauricio Pochettino would like to make some upgrades there and he believes Varane could be the man.
If PSG are indeed interested and Varane doesn’t accept Madrid’s offer, the two clubs could be destined to have some talks not only about Varane but also about Kylian Mbappe, who is on Madrid’s radar.
If Varane does leave Madrid, Alaba, Militao and Nacho would be the team’s center-backs. Los Blancos would then have to make a decision about whether or not signing another defender or spend the whole season with Vallejo as their fourth option.
