Hello Madridistas! The Open Thread/Daily Merengue is a place where you can discuss anything and everything related to football. Feel free to discuss the topics presented here, or start your very own discussions! The Open thread will be posted every day by one of the mods you would totally have a snack over card games with: Valyrian Steel, Felipejack, YoSnail, Ezek Ix or yours truly.

It’s mostly transfer news today

  • By now, most of you should have heard that Marcelo isn’t headed anywhere just yet. Not only that, but he will apparently captain the team as well. There has been much talk about the legendary full back’s decline in the last couple of years and perhaps rightly so. He hasn’t featured as often as a starter would in the same period either. So, this piece of news seems interesting. Well, you know how is; We’re gonna have to wait to find out how oftena nd in what way Carlo Ancelotti use the brazilian.

  • Now about Rafa Varane... It seems that Real Madrid haven’t received any bid yet, according to Frabizio Romano.

  • The Blancos HQ have made contact with Jules Kounde, or so ABC Deportes say.

  • The obligatory Mbappe news of the day. Apparently, Real’s main focus will be Mbappe - shocking, I know- whom they will pursue right after EURO 2020’s final bell.

You knew this was coming!

So, Madridistas... * in sinister tone * I’d like to play a game. This time, the question is about who you think will actually WIN the whole thing. Are you backing the world champions? Perhaps you believe it’s finally coming home? Do you think the golden generation of Belgium wins the tourney? Let us know!
