Real Madrid are willing to offer €50 million for the transfer of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde this summer in case Raphael Varane keeps rejecting Madrid’s offers to extend his contract and ends up leaving the club, according to a report from ABC. However, Sevilla do not want to let Kounde leave the club for less than €80 million, per that same report.

Kounde has been very impressive during the last two seasons and other big clubs are keen on his signing. The French defender wants to play for a big club and has said as much when asked about his future this signing, so Sevilla might actually be forced to lower their demands.

If Varane leaves Real Madrid, Los Blancos would either have to play with Militao and Alaba as their center-backs —assuming Nacho is the third choice— or sign a quality center-back. Kounde and Pau Torres were on the top of Madrid’s list but Torres wants to stay in Villarreal for another season after his hometown club managed to get a spot in the Champions League for the 2021-2022 season, so Kounde might actually be Madrid’s only option to upgrade their defensive line if Varane decides to leave.
