This marks the third player renewal, following Lorena Navarro’s today and Aurélie Kaci’s the day before and are expected to only be the start.
Babett Peter was one of the original international signings made in the 2019/20 season, when Las Blancas were still called “CD Tacón” and the team’s ambitions were more about survival than Champions League qualification. As everyone had to do that year, Peter sacrificed, playing more at fullback than her natural position in the center of defense.
While Ivana Andrés has been the more lauded pair of the two, Babs has played a key role in Madrid’s defensive improvement in 2020/21 and fans will be happy to know that she’ll play in the white kit for at least another year.
However, Babett Peter will probably have competition for her position if some of the reported transfers bear fruit, so it will be interesting to see whether she keeps her starting role.
