When Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard left the pitch with a hamstring injury, most reporters and even some of his teammates believes the 2020 UEFA Euro was over for him. Today, 24 hours after Belgium’s win against Portugal, coach Roberto Martinez delivered a very important update on Hazard and De Bruyne’s injuries.
“First news today aren’t negative, they are not in big pain and they will work with us during the week, so we will see if they’re available against Italy. They don’t have structural damage and that means that the tournament isn’t over for them, it’s still on,” said Martinez without ruling any of the two players out of the Quarterfinals.
Martinez, however, acknowledged that Friday’s match might be too soon for them to be ready.
“We still have to wait 24 more hours to see how they react. The match against Italy is on Friday and that’s our main issue. I think that if we could manage to play one more game they would surely be ready. News are good but we must go day to day,” concluded Martinez.
