Real Madrid and Lucas Vazquez have signed a three-year contract extension just a month before his previous deal was set to expire, the club confirmed on their official website.

Real Madrid C. F. and Lucas Vázquez have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract and he will remain at the club for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2024.

Vazquez seemed ready to leave the club last winter as Real Madrid didn’t want to give him the deal he wanted, but now both parts reached an agreement and signed this three-year extension.

His role within Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is not clear. Vazquez is a good asset as a right-back because of Carvajal’s recent history with injuries, but Odriozola managed to complete solid performances during the last few weeks of the season.

Ideally, Madrid should not use Vazquez as a right winger, where Asensio, Rodrygo, Odegaard or Brahim could compete for minutes.
