Raphael Varane reportedly has shown no intention to sign a new deal with Real Madrid because he has already been offered a better contract from Manchester United, according to ABC Deportes.
The report says that United have already offered a five-year contract with higher wages than what he is currently earning with Real Madrid. Varane’s current contract with the club is set to expire in 2022.
A transfer would have to occur first with Varane still under contract with the club until the end of next season. So far there’s been no indication that a transfer is imminent or even in the works currently.
While both Eder Militao and Nacho held strong during injury absences, this would be a big blow to the Madrid backline as Sergio Ramos’ contract situation looms up in the air as well this summer.
The 28-year-old is still an integral part of the team’s defense and is certainly worth locking down to a new contract past 2022. There’s been no supplementary reports that assume Varane will not be with the club past his current contract so it’s hard to say whether this report is truly credible.
