The official Real Madrid website has released the 2021-22 La Liga season fixture list. The domestic campaign is set to kick off in the second week of August with Real Madrid’s season opener taking place on either the 14th or 15th against Alavés. The season is scheduled to run until late May with Los Blancos facing off against Cádiz in the last match.

The Real Madrid website highlights key dates for the clasico and Madrid derby.

The Clásicos will be played on matchday 10 in Barcelona (on the weekend of 23-24 October) and on matchday 29 in Madrid (on the weekend of 19-20 March). The Madrid derby matches against Atlético will take place on matchday 17 at home (11-12 December) and on matchday 35 away (7-8 May). The calendar is non-symmetrical, meaning that the order of the matches for the return fixtures is different from that of the first half of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti will hope to guide Real Madrid to a win this season which would be his maiden La Liga title as he couldn’t accomplish the feat during his first tenure with the club. With the Euros and Copa America continuing into July, there will be no shortage of football action as fans will be able to see players donning the Madrid jersey in official competition in less than two months.
