Karim Benzema wants to play alongside Kylian Mbappe in Real Madrid, that much is clear. Benzema has been praising Mbappe ever since France’s training camp for the upcoming UEFA Euro started while also saying that him joining Real Madrid “would be ideal.” Now, the veteran attacker talked in an interview with MARCA and once again did his best to show Mbappe that he would be welcomed in Madrid.
“Kylian is a young player, he’s got tremendous quality and he’s a good kid. He would be welcomed in Real Madrid, sure, but which club wouldn’t sign him without hesitating? Right now he’s under contract with PSG and we’ll see what he decides to do. Today, our priority is to win the Euro,” said Benzema.
Benzema is making his return to the French national team after five years and couldn’t be happier about the situation he’s in.
“I’m the happiest man on Earth. I’m very happy playing football in Madrid and now that I’m back with France to play the Euro, I can only feel proud, happy and looking forward to the tournament,” he explained.
Benzema was also asked about Zinedine Zidane’s departure from Real Madrid. The attacker had publicly said that Zidane was going to stay but the coach ultimately left the club.
“Of course, it was a surprise for everyone not only for me. He’s always been like a big brother, I’ve known him for a very long time and he helped me a lot in and outside the pitch. It was a difficult decision for everyone. Now we have another coach and we’ll try to succeed once again,” he said.
In fact, new coach Carlo Ancelotti was the first one who gave Benzema the role as an undisputed starter, so the French attacker is happy about his return.
“It’s great news, we all know him, players and fans alike. He’s a great coach, I like his style of play and the way he sees football, the way he handles the group and the team. He wants to win every title,” assessed Benzema, who also said that David Alaba is “a great signing who’s won many trophies with Bayern.”
Benzema wrapped up his interview by looking back at his illustrious career with Real Madrid.
“I always say that for me, Real Madrid is the world’s greatest club. Players come and go but Real Madrid will always be Real Madrid, the best club in the world. I know I have to do my best and give more and more every year and I hope we can win titles with this team. I will always be grateful because Madrid signed me when I was just a 21-year old kid and now I have experience, I’ve won titles and it’s a pleasure for me to be in this club every day. Every Liga and Champions League title I win are like a dream for me,” concluded Benzema.
