Miguel Gutierrez was one of Real Madrid’s most highlighted players during the 2020-2021 season, even if he only played a handful of games. Almost nobody expect the young left-back to show such promise, although he was always a player with potential. Now, he talked to Real Madrid TV and discussed his first few games with Madrid.

“For me, what’s happening is a dream. I’m with the world’s best players and I will work hard so that I can experience this for many years to come,” said Gutierrez.

The Spanish defender revealed that every single first-team player welcomed him, explaining that Marcelo gave him support.

“Everyone on the first team supported me a lot, especially those who grew up in the academy and know what it’s like to come up from Castilla. I have to thank Marcelo because he is a left-back and he was always alongside me giving me advice, he was the first there to help me,” he explained.

Miguel will be hoping to be a first-team player next season, although Madrid are expected to keep both Ferland Mendy and Marcelo, which could ultimately hurt his chances of getting significant playing time given the circumstances. Still, he’s shown enough promise to be considered a quality replacement, even better than Marcelo, so Ancelotti will have to make some decisions.
