Thiago Silva is a legend for Brazil. The center-back talked to the press last night and praised Real Madrid’s Eder Militao after what’s been a very good season for the young defender. Silva believes Militao will be a crucial player for Real Madrid now that Sergio Ramos is gone.

“I’m sure that he will be one of the core players for Real Madrid from now on, after Sergio Ramos’ departure,” said Silva.

Militao is indeed expected to start in the center of the defensive line, although Carlo Ancelotti could also deploy Varane and Alaba as center-backs if the French defenders ends up staying in the club.

Silva also revealed that he told Militao some words of encouragement after Chelsea beat Real Madrid in the Champions League Semifinals.

“I told him to keep going because he was completing a very good season. I told him to keep going because that way we will be playing for our national team for many years to come,” said Silva.

The veteran center-back also described Militao’s game and style as a defender.

“Militao trusts his speed a lot. He’s a very quick guy and sometimes he loses his position a bit because he knows he will track back successfully. That’s something I learned when I got to Milan and it’s something I try to tell and teach him,” concluded Silva.

Real Madrid spent €50 million on the signing of Militao two years ago and the transfer could’ve been considered a failure last summer. However, he managed to turn things around with his great performances when both Ramos and Varane were injured and Militao was a very solid and reliable defender on a consistent basis, so it looks like he might actually be ready to earn a spot in the starting XI.
