Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is set to sign a contract extension which will keep him in the club until 2024, according to a report published today on Spanish newspaper ABC. Carvajal is 29 years old, is the undisputed starter at the right-back spot for Madrid but has struggled with injuries lately.
ABC have been extremely accurate with their reports lately. They were spot on with Lucas Vazquez, Modric and Nacho and it’s safe to assume that Carvajal will indeed sign this three-year extension very soon.
This could be considered a somewhat risky move from Real Madrid given Carvajal’s track record with injuries. Still, it’s clear that it wouldn’t be easy for Madrid to replace him in the market, so extending his contract and hoping that he can stay healthy from now on makes sense.
Carvajal could very well end up being one of the team captains if he stays in Madrid until 2024.
