Real Madrid and Nacho Fernandez are set to sign a contract extension, with his current deal expiring in 2022. When his new contract becomes official, Nacho will stay at the club until 2023.

Nacho is now 31 years old and experienced a very solid season in 2020-2021. The central defender was required to step in the absence of both Sergio Ramos and Varane and completed his best season in quite some time, so this is a extension he deserves.

Nacho will continue to be an important player for Real Madrid in the upcoming seasons, given that Varane is expected to leave the club some time soon. If that’s the case, Nacho would be the team’s third center-back int he rotation behind David Alaba and Eder Militao, so he will definitely be needed down the road.

Expect the official announcement about Nacho’s extension in the next few days as Real Madrid keep building the roster for the upcoming season.
