Ferland Mendy is happy at Real Madrid and never asked for a salary raise, according to a report from Saber Desfarges — a journalist based in Paris.
Both MARCA and Sport ran reports earlier in the summer suggesting that the French fullback was not happy with his current salary and felt his performances over the last two seasons merited an increase. With Ferland Mendy being one of those players able to fetch a sizeable transfer fee, it could have been a ploy by the club to see if there were any potential suitors for the left back.
Whether generated by the club or by Mendy’s agent, the truth is that the player is happy at Real Madrid. He has become one of the first names on the team sheet after his €50 million transfer from Lyon in the summer of 2019. The fullback is currently injured, but will be competing with Miguel Gutierrez and Marcelo in Ancelotti’s new look Real Madrid side. If the Frenchman can stay fit, he should remain as first choice under the new boss given his overall skillset and his superlative physical attributes.
