Madridistas were made to wait for longer than expected after being informed that the transfer was all but complete. Things got a little dramatic, with anxiety building and some assuming the worst.
Everyone can relax now. Las Blancas have one of the most talented wingers in Spain. At just 20-years-old, she’s wowed onlookers with her explosive dribbling ability and notched a respectable 9 goals in 32 appearances for Depor in 2020/21.

She is the Sofia Jakobsson replacement on the team sheet unless more signings materialize. While that is a rather large burden to shoulder, Athenea has the talent and the potential to become that kind of player.
Her addition creates a wealth of offensive riches for David Aznar to choose from and should set expectations higher for next season, even if second place is currently a hard ceiling on what Madrid can achieve in the league.
