Real Madrid Femenino announced today that the team will play a second preseason tournament in the build-up to their season. The tournament will be hosted in Leon, Spain. Real Madrid Femenino, Madrid CFF, Real Sociedad and Club Polideportivo Cacereno are the four participants. The preseason tournament will be played from Aug. 14-15.
Last season Las Blancas lost to La Real 3-1 in the teams’ first meeting and pulled off a thrilling 3-2 comeback to secure a second-place finish in Primera Iberdrola in their second meeting. Real Madrid Femenino beat cross-town rivals Madrid CFF by a scoreline of 2-0 in both league meetings but were dumped out of the Copa de la Reina by Madrid CFF.
Club Polideportivo Cacereno were founded in 1919 and currently play in the Segunda Division RFEF — Group 4. The club spent the previous five seasons in the third division. They finished in first-place and secured promotion to the Segunda Division RFEF — Group 4 for the 2021-22 season.
Before playing in this tournament, Las Blancas will travel to Leoben, Austria to play in the KAIF Trophy.
