Reinier Jesus came off the bench for Brazil in the 71st minute of their 3 - 1 win over Saudi Arabia, which saw them secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Olympics as they topped Group D over Germany and Ivory Coast.
Brazil opened the scoring in the 14th minute through a Matheus Cunha strike, only to see Saudi Arabia equalize in the 27th. Brazil, needing a win or draw to advance, were still in a comfortable position.
In the second half, the Richarlison show started. The Everton striker, who scored a first-half hat-trick against Germany earlier in the group stages, scored two goals — in the 76th and 94th minute — to ensure victory.
The goal in stoppage time was a thing of beauty, as Real Madrid’s Reinier Jesus, vital to that attacking sequence, carried the ball up the field, laid it off, and then sprinted into the right half-space to receive the ball and square across goal to an open Richarlison:
