Real Madrid have announced the extension of Dani Carvajal’s contract, which was set to expire in 2022. Carvajal will now stay at the club until the summer of 2025, when he will be 32 years old.

The Spanish right-back has had a tough time staying healthy for the past two seasons but is still a crucial player in Real Madrid’s roster and an undisputed starter when healthy. Right now, he is working with physical trainer Antonio Pintus trying to make sure that he is in the best possible condition when the 2021-2022 kicks off in two weeks.

Carvajal’s leadership off and on the pitch is also very valuable and will even be more important this season now that Sergio Ramos has left the club. In fact, Carvajal should be expected to be the leader of Real Madrid’s defensive line whenever he is on the pitch.

The right-back also seems destined to be one of the team captains in the next few years. Real Madrid decided to keep him around hoping that he can play major relevant minutes this season.
