Real Madrid underwent preseason medical checks ahead of their first training session under returning manager Carlo Ancelotti on Monday, according to RealMadrid.com.

A good handful of both veterans, including Marcelo and Dani Carvajal, and younger players, including Rodrygo and the returning Luka Jovic, were tested in the morning at the Sanitas Valdebebas Medical Centre in Madrid.

RealMadrid.com also detailed the first training session of the preseason on Monday evening. The attending squad reportedly took part in drills practicing ball possession, circulation and pressing. They also did some high-performance running drills around the training ground.

Carvajal and Vazquez reportedly briefly participated with the squad after their season-ending injuries during the past campaign. Ferland Mendy reportedly trained by himself indoors while Isco did not participate after reportedly receiving an excused absence for family reasons.

Monday marks the official start to the 2021-22 preseason for Real Madrid. While there are several international cup tournaments ongoing this summer, the La Liga season will officially begin on August 13. Real Madrid are set to face Alaves in their first match of the season on August 15.
