Real Madrid have officially completed their third transfer of the season, signing right back Lucía Rodríguez from Real Sociedad.

The 22-year-old previously previously played for CD Tacón before becoming a critical figure for Real Sociedad. She is very much a modern fullback in the sense that she excels as a ball progressor and when pressed against the sideline. Those are invaluable traits and are still fairly rare in her position, which should allow her to be competitive with Kenti Robles, who shines more on the overlap and when bombing forward.
Lucía also possesses great versatility and can play on the opposite flank when needed. This is an interesting proposition as Real Madrid do not have a natural left back in the squad and have not been linked to one all season. Either this means that Olga Carmona and Marta Corredera will continue to be trusted as options or Lucía might’ve been signed to fill that position.
