Real Madrid spend the most of any European club on injured players, according to a new report from Betiton.com.
The report reveals that Los Blancos spent nearly €45 million last season, which is about five times the average in Europe. Real Madrid players spent around 69 days injured on average, which was a big concern throughout the past season. The average cost of injuries for the club was around €2.25 million.
Real Madrid also had the highest-earning and highest-costing injured player last season, which was Eden Hazard. He amassed over €17 million while spending 252 days injured and earning over €470,000 weekly.
In addition to Hazard, Real Madrid had four other players within the top ten of highest-costing injured players last season. This includes Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo and Mariano.
Its no surprise to see these details revealed as a big part of Real Madrid’s season last year was the amount of injuries sustained during the course of their domestic and European campaigns.
