Real Madrid Femenino defeated Cacereño 4-0 in the semifinal of the Torneo de Leon. Las Blancas advance to the final of the preseason tournament which will be played tomorrow at 1:30 EST.

Las Blancas were on the front foot from the kickoff. They had the majority of the ball and were most effective when they won the ball back or broke the Cacereño press. Marta Cardona, Athenea and Teresa drove into midfield and toward the opposition’s goal and looked to unlock the defense.

Teresa opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Cardona received in midfield and drove centrally before passing to Teresa. The midfielder turned and noticed that the Cacereño was off her line and launched from distance to score.

Real Madrid continued to pile on the pressure. They found success down the flanks with the winger and fullbacks linking up well. The wide players were able to create a multitude of half-chances that were cut out at the crucial moment by the Cacereño defenders.

In the 45th minute, Lorena Navarro turned in the final third and played the ball wide to Cardona. Cardona tried to cross to Nahikari Garcia, who was making a run into the six-yard box. The cross was momentarily cut out by the keeper before she knocked it into her own net, making it 2-0.

Real Madrid thrived in wide areas in the second half just like they did in the first half. But they were unable to find runners in the box and when they did, the flag was raised for offside or the shot wasn’t able to test the keeper.

Las Blancas were awarded a penalty kick after Athenea found Ariana Arias in the box. Arias was fouled and Lorena stepped to the spot. Her penalty was saved and Cacereño kept the deficit at 2-0.

In the 73rd minute, Marta Corredera extended Las Blancas’ lead to three goals. She overlapped down the left flank and Athenea passed to her. She attempted a cross that deflected and found its way to the far post where a Cacereño defender put it in her own net.

Substitute Paula Partido added a fourth goal, scoring on her first-team debut. Lorena got the ball on the top of the 18-yard box and squared to Partido, who was able to tap it into an open net.

Las Blancas will play the winner of Real Sociedad vs, Madrid CFF in the final of the Torneo Leon tomorrow at 1:30 EST.
