Real Madrid is reportedly close to an agreement with Arsenal for the permanent transfer of Martin Ødegaard, according to the Athletic UK’s David Ornstein.
Ornstein reports that while it is not quite a done deal yet, it is indeed heading towards this direction. He claims that the finished deal would be for around €35 million.
He states the 22-year-old did not train with the main squad on Tuesday and Ødegaard could feature for the Gunners as soon as against Chelsea this weekend. He does concede there is still work to be done to fully complete the transfer.
If true, it appears Ødegaard’s time with Real Madrid is coming to an end shortly. He has bounced around on loan for several seasons since joining the club in 2015. He’s featured in just 11 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions, with most of these coming after his loan recall from Real Sociedad at the start of the 2020-21 season.
Ødegaard spent a half-season with Arsenal after being loaned out in January 2021. He’s spent the summer back with his parent club, but it seems he will finally find a more permanent home in North London.
