Explaining three key exercises from Real Madrid’s fitness session this week

Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT delves into the team’s fitness session from Wednesday

Following Real Madrid’s resounding 4-1 victory over the weekend vs Alaves, the squad players jumped back into training and ongoing fitness sessions during the week, with the team releasing footage of the sessions from Wednesday at Valdebabas.

During the fitness session, I noticed three key trends and exercises. In the following video, I explained each of the exercises along with the underlying rationale for doing them. Don’t try this at home!

Elite football fitness is programmed meticulously with a detailed rationale behind it and constant assessments. Hopefully this gave you some insight into that process for the club and I hope to provide you with more of these insights as the season progresses.

Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT has a doctorate in physical therapy from Northern Arizona University, and runs his own in-person and online sports medicine and performance business, 3CB Performance, in West LA and Valencia, CA in which he further combines his movement expertise and fitness training. He also works at a hospital — giving him experience with patients in the immediate healthcare setting and neurological patients (post stroke, post brain injury) — and has been practicing for 4 years.
