Real Madrid Femenino defeated city rivals Madrid CFF 1-0 in their final preseason game of 2021/22. Athenea del Castillo scored her first goal in a white shirt while new signing Caroline Møller Hansen made her unofficial debut for the club.

It looks like we operated in a 4-3-3 with Hansen on the flanks based on the personnel selected. If you’re puzzled as to why I have to wonder about this, you should know that the game was not broadcasted by Madrid CFF’s request.
Apparently, they did not want their new signings to be “revealed.” One can only assume that they intend to do their own unveilings later, but people are already aware of at least some of the new players, as Madrid CFF’s last friendly served as an announcement of sorts, with people on social media discovering transfers by looking at the starting eleven and bench.
For example, we only learned that former Las Blancas defender, Daiane, had swapped jerseys when Madrid CFF took on Real Sociedad in the Torneo de León.
WAIT DAIANE???

Why they didn’t officially announce their transfers before they took to the pitch is anyone’s guess. Needless to say, Madrid CFF did not release their lineup for their match vs. Real Madrid, leading to a situation where the All White’s social media updates were the only source of information on the game.

Thankfully, this nonsense should be behind us with the “real” season set to get underway. Real Madrid Femenino will play their first proper football match on August 31 against Manchester City in the 1st leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2nd Round Qualifiers.
