Champions League football is back, even if it’s only the Group Stage Draw. This draw will define Real Madrid’s first six games in the competition and there are a few opponents Los Blancos will want to avoid.

When is the draw?

The draw will start at 18:00 CEST, 02:00pm EST. Considering that UEFA always explain the procedure and do a little introduction, expect the actual draw to start around 15 minutes later.

What are the pots for the draw? (Who can Real Madrid draw?)

Real Madrid didn’t win LaLiga last season and therefore are in Pot 2, meaning that they cannot face other teams in their same pot. Keep in mind that Real Madrid can’t draw other LaLiga teams in this stage of the competition. One team from each pot will be drawn to form the groups. Again, teams from the same league cannot be in the same group, so Real Madrid can’t draw Inter and Milan at the same time.

Pot 1: Chelsea, Atletico de Madrid, Manchester City, Inter, Bayern, Lille, Villarreal and Sporting Lisbon.

Pot 2: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, Manchester United, Liverpool, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund.

Pot 3: Oporto, Ajax, Leipzig, Benfica, Atalanta, Shakthar, Salzburgo and Zenit.

Pot 4: Brujas, Young Boys, Malmo, Wolfsburgo, Besiktas, Dynamo Kyiv, Sheriff Tiraspol and Milan.

When does the competition start?

The first games will be played on September 14th and the Group Stage will conclude on December 8th, right before Christmas break.

Where is the 2022 Champions League Final going to take place?

The final is scheduled for Saturday, May 28th and it will be played in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

How can I watch the draw?

The Group Stage Draw will be streamed live and for free on UEFA.com at 18:00 CEST.
