Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy has sustained yet another injury, this time a muscle problem which will keep him out of the squad for the next three weeks, according to a report published this morning on MARCA.

Mendy had recovered from a very problematic lower leg injury but he went down again right before the match against Celta Vigo, when he should have made his returned to the squad list and also to the field of play.

The French defender will have to regain form, confidence and physical condition once he’s able to train again, given that he didn’t complete any kind of pre-season with his teammates. That means that it will be a while before he can actually contribute and make an impact.

When healthy, Mendy will be expected to be the undisputed starter at the left-back spot, while Nacho, Marcelo and Miguel will compete for minutes when he’s out.
