It’s one thing to do your job well, it is another to have your competition heap praise and publicly label you as the best. When you manage a business like Florentino Perez does, that type of praise is not out of the realm of possibilities. In a interview with Spanish radio’s Cadena Cope, current FC Barcelona Vice-President, Eduard Romeu, the man responsible for the finances of the club, has commended his counter part
“It’s possible that Real Madrid signs both Mbappe and Haaland. If we had done our homework in recent years, we would be in the sam situation. Florentino Perez has managed the club perfectly — hats off, he deserves recognition. At a business level, no one is going to top him,” Romeu told COPE.
Despite a pandemic ravaging global economics and business forecasts, despite 18 months without fans, despite a stadium renovation project, and despite the demands of the Real Madrid faithful, Florentino Perez has navigated the storm and guided the club through arguably it’s most difficult financial period in history. Now the club will be able to stand on it’s own two feet while others global European football clubs, like Barcelona or Juventus, will be on the sidelines looking to get their finances in order over the next few years. As Romeu pointed out, signing both Mbappe and Haaland — though extremely difficult — would not be out of the realm of financial possibilities for the club.
