Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema talked to the French media after France’s 1-1 draw against Bosnia. Naturally, Benzema was asked about PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, whose transfer to Real Madrid this summer stalled in the last few days of the transfer window.
“We get along really well, on and off the pitch. Of course that I’d like to have him at Madrid with me even today, but we have to respect his club, he’s there and that’s it. Anyway, he’s a player who will play for Real Madrid one day or another. I’m repeating myself but it’s the best club in the world,” said Benzema.
Benzema has been encouraging Mbappe to make the move to Real Madrid for quite some time and the PSG attacker seems willing to play for Madrid. He is now in the last year of his contract with the French club, and while it not be easy for him to keep rejecting PSG’s offers to extend his contract, it will ultimately be his own decision this time around. Mbappe will be free to sign any contract he wants on January 1st.
