Unai Emery’s Villarreal visit the Santiago Bernabeu tonight, and while it’s been a fairly mediocre season so far for the Yellow Submarine with only one win and four draws, Real Madrid fans should not forget that this is the team who conquered the 2020-2021 UEFA Europa League title against Manchester United.

Villarreal are a very dangerous team, especially when given the chance to counterattack. Gerard Moreno is not available and will miss the game, but Madrid will have to show some defensive improvements tonight if they want to score the three points, given that Los Blancos have struggled a bit in transition so far this season.

Casemiro’s return to the starting lineup should help now that he was rested on Wednesday. If he’s fresh and recovers his best form, Madrid’s defensive stability should definitely improve. All in all, this game has the ingredients to be a thrilling matchup between two quality sides.
