Real Madrid’s spokesperson and former attacker Emilio Butragueño talked to Movistar+ after the team’s 0-0 draw against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu. Butragueño was asked about the potential penalty on Nacho, which wasn’t called by referee Gil Manzano.
“I think there’s obvious contact and it happens inside the box. It looks like Gil Manzano thought otherwise. It’s clear contact and it’s inside the box, so it’s a penalty in our book,” said Butragueño.
The former player also praised Villarreal, who dominated the first half and provided a big challenge for Ancelotti’s men.
“We’re talking about one of the best teams in LaLiga. They like to have the ball, they feel comfortable with it. In the last 20 minutes we were closer to scoring that goal to score the three points,” he added.
Butragueño also highlighted the effort from Real Madrid.
“I always highlight the team. They had courage and effort through adversity. We were close to winning the game in the last 20 minutes. We faced a good opponent tonight and they also had moments of great football,” concluded Butragueño.
