Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke recently spoke about the Erling Haaland transfer rumors with German television outlet Sport1 (via AS) where he vigorously denied anything happening by next summer.

“That’s bull****. Some experts say, ‘They’re in the stock market, they’re going to have to sell Haaland in the summer.’ The decision to sell someone in our club is made by the board only. It has not yet been decided whether he will actually leave next summer. We’ll see.”

“He is an independent personality. Anyway, at some point he will play in one of the best clubs in the world, although he is already playing in one of the best clubs in the world. But I know, of course, that Real Madrid seduces him.”

“The ball is in Erling’s court. I have a good relationship with Mino Raiola. It is not correct to believe that Mino only thinks about money. He also thinks about what is best for the player.”

It seems Watzke at least entertains the idea that Haaland could be on the move away from Dortmund in the future, including specifically name-dropping Real Madrid as a seriously interested club. Obviously, he is suggesting that he will not be sold until Dortmund’s board decides it is time to.

The longstanding rumors have linked Real Madrid to Haaland as a potential signing next summer to join alongside the also-rumored Kylian Mbappe. These are all clearly rumors until actual transfers are offered and completed.
