Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro talked to Movistar+ right after the shocking 1-2 loss to Sheriff. Casemiro acknowledged that the team must improve in order to compete for trophies this season.

“This is football. We shot more than 20 times, played well and the other team came to defend, shot twice and scored two goals. This is football, we have to pay more attention defensively,” said the midfielder.

Casemiro showed some optimism by saying that the team is on the right path, even after such a terrible and discouraging loss.

“There are several ways to lose a game, tonight we did a good job, their goalkeeper made many saves and we have to congratulate them because they shot twice and scored as many goals. In this club you always have to win, we know we are on the right path, we are doing a good job and have the confidence of our coach. We are first in LaLiga table and have our options in the Champions League. This is all about how it ends,” he explained.

Casemiro wrapped up his interview by talking about the accuracy Real Madrid lacked last night.

“We completely controlled the game and had chances to score the 1-0, then 1-1 and at the end they score a great goal. In football you have to win, but this year we have played some bad games and won, it wasn’t like that tonight. If you’re not accurate upfront, it costs you on defense,” he said.
