Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale talked to BBC in an interview during this FIFA break and explained why this 2021-2022 season could be different for him in the Spanish capital.
“I’ve always had a great relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, but it’s still the same in the sense that you have to perform at a high level to make the team. I had a good pre-season and a good start of the season as well. It’s always good to have a good atmosphere and this year there’s a better atmosphere at Real Madrid for me,” said Bale.
The attacker also tackled the rumors about his potential retirement from club football when this current season ends.
“Everyone seems to be making stories up when they want, I don’t know. They just fabricate some crazy stuff. I never planned to retire. As I said before, I just wanted to focus on the Euro and I didn’t want to explain nothing to anyone, I didn’t feel I needed it and I still don’t feel the need of doing it,” he added.
Bale has started for Real Madrid in all of their three LaLiga games so far this season, scoring the team’s opening goal against Levante. If he can stay healthy and gain some more confidence and momentum, he will be able to contribute for the team.
