Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has delivered an update about his pubalgia —sports hernia—, an injury which has kept him away from the team for the first three games of the season. Kroos revealed that he hasn’t recovered from this injury yet and that he will need more time.
“I feel better now but in all honesty I still can’t do everything without pain, which is normal with this injury. I still need some more time to recover and I can’t say when I’ll be back,” said Kroos.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said during one of his press conferences that he expected Kroos to be back with the team right after the FIFA break, but that’s extremely unlikely at this point. Not only does he need more time to recover, but it will also make sense to take a cautious approach once when’s ready to play, so Kroos could need at least one more month before being able to start for Real Madrid.
In the meantime, Camavinga, Valverde and Isco will fight for the remaining spot in the midfield alongside Luka Modric, who is also currently injured but should be back from hsi groin injury fairly soon.
