Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric completed Wednesday’s training session with the rest of the squad, having recovered from the groin injury he picked up before the FIFA break. Therefore, Modric appears ready to face Celta Vigo when Real Madrid host the Galician side at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

However, groin injuries are always very tricky for football players and Modric is a veteran, so coach Carlo Ancelotti could decide not to deploy him in the starting lineup so that he’s ready to start and play 90 minutes against Inter Milan next Wednesday.

Modric’s return from injury is crucial and even more so this week, given that Casemiro and Valverde will play for their countries on Thursday night. Ancelotti will have to manage his roster this week and how he handles Modric’s minutes will be very important this season, given that he is 35 years old and will need to rotate consistently in order to maximize his contributions.
