Real Madrid Femenino right back and new signing Lucía Rodríguez has been called up to the Spanish National Team for the first time to replace Levante’s María de Alharilla. It appears that Alharilla got injured in her side’s Champions League qualifier match vs. Olympique Lyon, giving Lucía a chance to make an impression in training and possibly get some minutes under coach Jorge Vilda.

The inclusion of Lucía means that there are now seven Madridistas that have been called up for international action in total, including: Ivana Andrés, Misa Rodríguez, Olga Carmona, Teresa Abelleira, Athenea del Castillo, and Esther González.
That puts Las Blancas level with the mighty Barcelona, who have released Alexia Putellas, Mapi Léon, Andrea Pereira, Mariona Caldentey, Aitana Bonmatí, Patri Guijarro, and Sandro Paños to play for Spain in this upcoming club break.
It will be interesting to see how many of Real Madrid’s girls actually feature on the pitch, for Spain’s squad is deep and competition is fierce.
