After El Clasico defeat last weekend, Real Madrid move on to fight for their spot in the quarter finals of UEFA Women’s Champions League. In the first matchday of the group stage, Las Blancas drew against Chelsea 2-2 at home ground.

For the second matchday, the team travelled to Gothenburg. The Swedish team, BK Häcken, previously won against Paris FC in the first matchday. BK Häcken is the only team in group D that is done with the league and now they only have Champions League and the Swedish cup left to fight for.

Las Blancas are in the middle of a tough period, with 4 games being played in 12 days, 3 of which are with high stakes. On top of all that, the white club lost three of their players after El Clasico. Toletti and Feller are expected to be out for a month, while Linda Caicedo, who suffered an injury to the ligaments in her ankle, is expected to come back only in January of 2024. For this reason, there are additions to the squad list taken from the B team.

“We can’t wait to play this second Champions League game with our minds firmly fixed on winning it. They will be tough opposition on an artificial pitch. We’ll have to adapt but that’s not a problem. We’ll really go for it,” states Misa Rodríguez in the pre-match press conference.
