Real Madrid goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in the team’s next LaLiga game against Almeria, which will be played next weekend. That’s what Ancelotti said during the post-match press conference after conquering the 2024 Spanish Supercup title with a convincing 4-1 win against Barcelona.
Still, Lunin will start when Real Madrid visit Atletico’s Civitas Metropolitano in the Copa del Rey’s Round of 16 next Thursday. Ancelotti will keep rotating between his goalkeepers and it looks like he hasn’t made a final decision about who should start on a consistent basis. Lunin has been the better goalkeeper but the team signed Kepa on a loan deal to replace Courtois. Kepa also has the edge when it comes to experience, to that’s why it’s hard to leave him on the bench week in and week out.
As things stand right now, it looks like Lunin and Kepa will keep competing for the starting job.
