Full match player ratings below:
Andriy Lunin—6.5: Played a first-class 70-yard pass to Valverde from a goal kick. Some nervy moments when defending crosses or coming off his line to try and intercept a corner. Fortunante on the night with the woodwork helping him out on two occasions.
Dani Carvajal—7.5: Back to full fitness and back to his best. Had a number of well-timed one-two interchanges in the final third and defended like a mad-man in the final stages of the match.
Toni Rudiger—9: The unsung hero of the season. What a colossus he has been at the back – one of the best center backs in the world. This season we are seeing the true Toni Rudiger. Oftentimes was last man back physically dueling it out with Larin, whom he outmatched. Scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick late in the second half to seal the victory.
Tchoaumeni—6.5: Solid display in a new position. Sacrificing himself for the good of the team. A number of well-timed tackles and intelligent patient defending when facing a counter.
Fran Garcia—4: After a couple of good Fran performances, this was one to forget. Too often passes the baton to someone else. Needs to have more confidence in his game.
Toni Kroos—5.5: Not quite at his best, looked slightly leg heavy and some uncharacteristic giveaways in possession.
Fede Valverde—7: Never stopped running – tireless on both sides of the ball. When in possession, always looked to drive the team forward.
Luka Modric—8: A game-high of 7 key passes and 9/9 long balls completed. On the ball, Luka was at his best and was able to sit just outside the box picking passes.
Jude Bellingham—7: Another player that never stopped running. When it seemed like the game may be getting away from Madrid, Jude stepped up and did everything in his power to try and turn the tide.
Vinicius Junior—6: Nearly scored one of the goals of the season after megging a Mallorca player and unleashing a shot from outside the box. Started to get into spats with the referee and opposition which deterred from his game. Too often looked for fouls, rather than just playing.
Rodrygo—6: Produced the shot that forced Rajkovic into a save which Brahim latched on to, but his header hit the post. Found it difficult to combine and find space against Mallorca’s tight lines with a back five and midfield four both defensively disciplined.
Brahim—8: Great performance off the bench – ran at a tired Mallorca backline, drew fouls, nearly scored off a diving header, and tracked back defensively.
Joselu—7: Was the right substitution and performed his role well: became central target or focal point for the attack. Had two clean lay-off’s to create goal-scoring opportunities.
Dani Ceballos—N/A: Late substitution for Luka Modric, had a couple of set-piece opportunities that he was not able to capitalize on.
Lucas Vazquez—N/A: Late substitution for Rodrygo to provide defensive solidity down the right and see out the result. Had a crucial clearance in extra-time following a Mallorca counter-attack.
